Prior to Inviting House Guests to My Home:
Did I initiate their stay or did they?
Am I planning to supply space, entertainment or both for my houseguests?
What result do I, as the host, hope to achieve from having houseguests?
Am I available to entertain at the time the house guests hope to come?
What special events are happening in my area that would enhance their visit?
What activities would I like to participate in with them during their stay?
Do work obligations allow me to take extra time to prepare and visit with my guests?
What special accommodations need to be made for these particular guests?
Preparing for house guests:
Food:
Do my guests have any dietary restrictions?
What do they like to eat?
Where could I purchase these foods so they are on-hand when my guests arrive?
What are some easy recipe options that my guests and I could prepare together?
How will I handle the cost of the food for my guests?
How many meals will we be eating together during their stay?
Do I have menus of local eating establishments on hand to discuss the options of going out to eat?
Sleeping Arrangements:
Where will the guests sleep?
Do I have bedding for the guests to use?
Is the bedding clean and ready to use?
Does the bedding fit the guest bed?
Are the guests in a room where they will be able to sleep- in or will they be awakened by house routines?
